The Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) was established in 1991 as the official training arm of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to apply the international best practices in developing the technical and managerial skills of financial service professionals with a vision to be the premier financial services training and research center in Egypt and the surrounding region.
EBI masters various training areas with its edge in banking training complemented by managerial, leadership, IT training, and two specialized training units for Small-Medium Enterprises and Corporate Governance. Beyond training, EBI undertakes a wide range of knowledge empowerment activities such as research, awareness, publications, and round tables to disseminate knowledge.
In April 2009, EBI received its first accreditation for a 5 year term by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) to become the first and only accredited financial training institute in Egypt and the region. In December 2014, EBI was re-accredited for a new term of 5 years until December 2019 to ensure adherence to international quality standards.
With a strong network in the MENA region, EBI established the Arab Banking Training Network (ABTN) with 14 Arab and African countries exchanging expertise and strengthening cooperation between banking training institutes in the Arab region and some African countries and is a member in the African Institute of Bankers. Furthermore, EBI also takes pride in its membership of the European Banking Training Network (EBTN).
As a community responsible institution, Shaping the Future initiative was created in 2012 to promote financial literacy and support banks to create child and youth friendly financial products. Crowning its efforts, EBI won the Global Money Week 2014 Award by Child & Youth Finance International after training more than 360,000 children and youth covering all the 27 governorates in Egypt.
